About the Author:

Krisztina Roy (1860-1936) was born in France and moved to the Highlands whithin the circles of the Evangelical priesthood. Krisztina was already at a young age, and she undertook to work in the highlands among people living in immense poverty and underdevelopment, especially among the Slovaks. He believed and admitted that "there is no difference before God no matter if we are speaking about untrained men, if they were Catholics, Lutherans, Jews, or idolatrous pagans". Krisztina Roy, since her family lived in Slovakia since 1792, she herself was a Slovak and turned to her people with love. She was particularly attentive to the children, taught them to sing, explained the Scripture to them. She wrote her experiences in round stories, published in 1893; and then seventy more stories. Many of these have been translated into 34 languages (over 200 foreign expenditures were counted by 2000). His books, published in Hungarian, were among the most read, and they are still of great interest to them. The main thing in her writings is that without God, man's life is unreasonable, and he is trapped in superstition, sin; the selfish, greedy human nature can only be defeated by the knowledge of God and the acceptance of salvation - that is, the creed that led the French writer Hugenott ancestors to flee from their home country.
