Hungarian Summary:

1956 őszén Budapestre figyelt a világ.

English Summary:

In the autumn of 1956 the world was looking to Budapest. The Hungarian Revolution, the uprising of the Hungarian people against the Soviet-type system, has created surprise and hope all over the world. Hope that the revolution of human dignity has a chance against the oppression of a superpower. The uprising failed, but the moral parable was preserved.
Remembrance organizes events into pictures. Erich Lessing, a photographer at the Magnum agency in Paris, was not in Budapest for the first time in the autumn of 1956. His recordings are a round, whole story. His pictures depict the pre-revolutionary, seemingly peaceful Hungary, the Hungarian society at the moment believed to be victorious, and the city and its inhabitants who are preparing for survival after the defeat. The lights of the autumn of 1956, but also its shadows. Lessing's Tablet The 1956 Budapest Autumn is a unique story that shows a complete arc.
