A signed copy of a forty-one-year live document from the man widely regarded as the father of British blues.
John Mayall did not invent the British blues, but without him most of the people who did would have stayed strangers. Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood — they all came through his Bluesbreakers at one point or another. This DVD strings together footage from 1970 through 2011, which is roughly the period after most of those alumni had moved on and Mayall himself just kept playing, kept touring, kept showing up at festivals from California to Spain to Denmark with another rhythm section and another set of standards.
The 1970 footage catches him at peak harmonica-and-stage-presence form, the 1982 Stormy Monday with Albert King is the kind of two-veterans-trading-fours moment that doesn't happen by accident, and the 2010 and 2011 tracks show a man pushing seventy-eight still doing Room To Move the way he meant it. The signature on the cover turns a strong live compilation into the kind of thing a blues collector frames.

Interesting Facts
John Mayall (1933–2024) ran the Bluesbreakers as a kind of finishing school for British blues guitarists from the mid-1960s onwards. The 1966 album Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton — known among collectors simply as the "Beano album" — is the record that turned Clapton into a household name and arguably defined the sound of British electric blues. Peter Green replaced Clapton, then left to form Fleetwood Mac with McVie and Fleetwood, also Mayall alumni. Mick Taylor came through next before joining the Rolling Stones in 1969.
The 1982 collaboration with Albert King featured here, Stormy Monday, is a rare on-camera meeting between Mayall and one of the original Memphis-Chicago blues kings whose recordings he had studied as a young man in Manchester decades earlier.
Mayall received an OBE in 2005 for services to music and was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2024. He continued touring well into his eighties, with the Odense (2011) performance on this disc captured during one of his European swings of that period.
