Overview
In Volume 1 of Stradivarius’s Un Homme de Concert series, Sviatoslav Richter pairs two of Mozart’s late masterpieces: the virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 17 in G major, K. 453, performed with Eugene Ormandy leading The Philadelphia Orchestra (recorded January 29, 1970), and the dramatic Piano Sonata No. 14 in C minor, K. 457, captured live at the Abbaye Notre‑Dame de Fidélité in Jouques on March 7, 1990. Britten’s two cadenzas for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22, K. 482, round out this program of classical brilliance and Romantic reinterpretation.
