Review:
First of all, let me say that this album KICKS! Dixieland music is still alive, and it's not holding still. The Original Dixieland Stompers have updated the sound in a novel way - they use an electric bass instead of a tuba! At the opening bars of the first cut, I had a few seconds where I thought "Electric bass? You can't do that in a Dixieland band!", but by the first chorus they had won me over. The electric bass gives the Dixieland sound a new life, and helps the music connect with modern listeners. My nine-year-old son loves this album - he says it sounds like everyone in the band is happy and having fun.
