Overview

Three days in a Los Angeles studio in 2010. Eleven tracks. No overthinking.

The Bomb Shelter Sessions is where Vintage Trouble introduced themselves to the world — raw, live-room blues-soul recorded fast and with intent. Ty Taylor's voice is the kind that stops a room. Nalle Colt's guitar work sits somewhere between Chicago blues and West Coast grit. Rick Barrio Dill and Richard Danielson lock in tight and stay there.

The record opened doors. It led to slots supporting AC/DC and The Rolling Stones, festival appearances across Europe and the US, and a reputation as one of the most electrifying live acts of their generation. All of that started here.

This copy carries signatures from all four band members — written directly on the cover during what was clearly an up-close moment with the band.

Interesting Facts

  • The Bomb Shelter Sessions was recorded in just three days at Bomb Shelter Studios in Los Angeles in 2010 and self-released in 2011 before the band signed to major labels.
  • The album brought Vintage Trouble to the attention of AC/DC's management, leading to a support slot on AC/DC's massive 2010 European arena tour.
  • The band subsequently supported The Rolling Stones and performed at major festivals including Glastonbury and Coachella.
  • Ty Taylor had a background in musical theatre and gospel before forming Vintage Trouble — a combination that gives his vocal delivery its particular range and physicality.
  • Nalle Colt, who also handled the album's art direction and layout, is Swedish-born, adding a transatlantic dimension to the band's Los Angeles sound.
  • The cover photograph was shot in London by Mick Hutson — an established music photographer whose work has appeared on albums and in international press for decades.
  • McGhee Entertainment, which managed the band, is the company founded by Doc McGhee — the manager behind KISS and Mötley Crüe, among others. Snake Sabo of Skid Row is also listed among the acknowledgments.
  • "Pelvis Pusher" was co-produced, recorded, and mixed separately by David Thoener, adding a slightly different sonic character to that track within the album.

Áttekintés

Három nap egy Los Angeles-i stúdióban, 2010-ben. Tizenegy szám. Semmi túlgondolás.

A The Bomb Shelter Sessions az a lemez, amellyel a Vintage Trouble bemutatkozott a világnak — nyers, élő hangzású blues-soul, gyorsan és szándékosan felvéve. Ty Taylor hangja olyan, amelyik megállítja a termet.

A lemez ajtókat nyitott.

  • Nalle Colt, aki a lemez arculatát is tervezte, svéd születésű, ami különleges transz-atlanti dimenziót ad a banda Los Angeles-i hangzásához.
