Overview

Leo Lyons co-founded Ten Years After in 1967. He played Woodstock in 1969 in front of half a million people. Fifty years later he was still making records — and this one, cut in Nashville with guitarist Joe Gooch, is a serious piece of work.

The World Won't Stop is blues rock with genuine weight behind it. Lyons produces and plays bass with the same economy he always had. Gooch handles guitar and vocals, and the writing across eleven tracks is direct and unhurried. "Poison" stretches to six minutes. "Going Home" runs over seven. Track 11 — "Wish You Were at Woodstock?" — makes the historical connection explicit.

Recorded at Subterrania Studios in Nashville, it dosent sound like a heritage act going through the motions. It sounds like two musicians who still have something to say.

This copy carries three signatures on the inside booklet page.

Interesting Facts

  • Leo Lyons was the bassist and co-founder of Ten Years After, the British blues-rock band that became one of the defining acts of the late 1960s. Their performance at Woodstock in August 1969 — particularly Alvin Lee's guitar showcase — is among the most iconic moments in rock history.
  • Track 11, "Wish You Were at Woodstock?", directly references Lyons' history at the 1969 festival, where Ten Years After performed to an estimated 400,000–500,000 people.
  • Track 4, "Poison," was co-produced by Vintage Trouble and recorded and mixed separately by David Thoener — wait, that's a different album. Here, "Poison" is credited with a separate recording note: it carries a double asterisk indicating it was written by Jansch, copyright Leola Music Limited/Bucks Music Group — a reference to folk-blues guitarist Bert Jansch.
  • Leo Lyons plays a custom "Woodstock Leo Lyons signature bass" — a bass built specifically around his connection to that 1969 performance.
  • The album was recorded in Nashville rather than the UK, giving it a distinctly American studio character despite the British blues-rock pedigree of its principals.
  • Billy Livsey, who contributes Hammond organ on tracks 3 and 4, is a well-regarded session musician and songwriter who has worked with artists including Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris.
  • Corner House Records is the band's own independent imprint, keeping full ownership of the recordings.

Áttekintés

Leo Lyons 1967-ben alapította a Ten Years Aftert.

A The World Won't Stop valódi súlyú blues rock. A "Poison" hat percig tart. A "Going Home" több mint hét percig fut. A 11. szám — "Wish You Were at Woodstock?" — egyértelműen utal a történelmi kapcsolatra.

  • Leo Lyons a Ten Years After basszusgitárosa és társalapítója volt — az 1960-as évek végének egyik meghatározó brit blues-rock zenekaráé. 1969-es woodstocki fellépésük, különösen Alvin Lee gitárszólója, a rock történelmének egyik legikonikusabb pillanata.
  • A 11. szám, a "Wish You Were at Woodstock?", közvetlenül utal Lyons 1969-es fesztiváltörténetére, ahol a Ten Years After becsült 400 000–500 000 ember előtt lépett fel.
  • Billy Livsey, aki a 3.
