Charles Caldwell Ryrie was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and spent his early years in Alton, Illinois. In 1946, he received his A.B. degree from Haverford College. He was graduated with high honors by Dallas Theological Seminary, receiving both the Th.M. (1947) and Th.D. (1949) degrees In 1954, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Since 1962 Dr. Ryrie has been Dean of the Graduate
School of Dallas Theological Seminary. Previous to this he taught at Midwest Bible and Missionary Institute in 1947, then at Westmont College from 1948 to 1953. He was visiting teacher in Systematic Theology, Assistant Professor and then Associate Professor of Systematic Theology at Dallas Theological Seminary, 1953-1958. He then became President of Philadelphia College of Bible until returning to Dallas.

- About the author: Charles Caldwell Ryrie was an American Bible scholar and Christian theologian. He served as professor of systematic theology and dean of doctoral studies at Dallas Theological Seminary and as president and professor at what is now Cairn University. After his retirement from Dallas Theological Seminary he also taught courses for Tyndale Theological Seminary. He is considered one of the most influential American theologians of the 20th century
