Ő az!” – így jellemezte Vásáry Tamás a Liszt-díjas zongoraművészt, akinek előadásában Robert Schumann alkotó huszonéveinek legeredetibb, emblematikus zongorakompozícióit hallhatjuk a Hungaroton albumán.
A három remekmű – a Carnaval, az Arabeske és a Szimfonikus etűdök – a zongoraművek évtizedében, 1834–1839 között keletkezett. A sajátos schumanni zenei nyelv kialakulása rendkívül sokat köszönhet ezeknek a viharos éveknek: az ekkor keletkezett híres zongoraciklusok egytől egyig olyan formabontó, excentrikusnak mondható művek, amelyekben az ifjúkori irodalmi és zenei élmények termékenyítő hatására a zeneszerző sajátos, csak rá jellemző ciklusalkotó gondolkodásának kialakulását ismerhetjük fel.
