Artist's Personal Introduction (Translation)

"I find it difficult to put into words what captivated me about folk music. From the first moment, I felt a sense of familiarity, yet at the same time a strong urge to explore when I listened to beautiful Transylvanian dance music, lace-like ornamented laments, listening songs, African and Bulgarian singers, and the sound of Turkish zurna and drums.

Many people sang in our family. My great-great-grandfather from Csorvás was a cimbalom player, and his son, my great-grandfather, played the violin. My father also learned singing from them. My mother first introduced me to Gypsy songs and told me about how our ancestors wandered from country to country, village to village, forest to forest before they finally arrived and settled in Zala.

The music you hear here was an integral part of the lives of peasant, village people living close to nature for many long centuries. If you set out, you'll see that in certain regions, such as in Magyarszovát, Buza, or Szék, it still is today. This is my first folk music album, a small bouquet of songs and music from that diverse and rich tradition that I have been passionate about since childhood and from which I draw and learn again and again."
