Overview
As the “father of Russian music,” Glinka pioneered the transformation of native folk melodies and Western art song traditions into the Russian romance. Evgenij Nesterenko’s sonorous bass and Evgenij Shenderovich’s refined pianism illuminate Glinka’s dramatic range—from the youthful sentiment of “Vergebens suchst du mich zu rühren” and the mystical “Media vita in morte sumus”, to the folkloric charm of “Wie schön ist es bei dir zu sein” and the literary epic “Die nächtliche Heerschau”. Each track reflects Glinka’s lifelong devotion to melding national idioms with Romantic expressivity.
