Overview

La Chévre (English title: Knock on Wood, literal translation: The Goat) is a classic 1981 French comedy film directed by Francis Veber, starring Pierre Richard and Gérard Depardieu. It marks the first of three films that showcase the comedic chemistry between Richard and Depardieu as a dynamic duo.

In the film, Gérard Depardieu plays Campana, a tough-guy private detective hired to locate Marie, the daughter of a wealthy businessman, who has mysteriously vanished while vacationing in Mexico. The case proves to be quite complex, with several previous attempts to find her having failed.

A psychologist named Meyer, who works for the businessman, proposes an unconventional plan. Marie is notoriously unlucky and accident-prone; therefore, Meyer suggests sending someone equally prone to accidents to find her. The theory is that whatever happened to Marie may also happen to this person, allowing them to retrace her steps. Pierre Richard portrays Perrin, an awkward and clumsy accountant employed by the businessman, who is chosen to carry out this scheme.

Thus begins the chaotic and hilarious adventures of this odd duo as they navigate their way through a series of misfortunes in an effort to locate Marie and bring her back home.

A Balfácán (angolul: La Chévre, címfordítás: A Kecske) egy klasszikus 1981-es francia vígjátékfilm, amelyet Francis Veber rendezett, és amelyben Pierre Richard és Gérard Depardieu játszik. Ez az első film a három közül, amely bemutatja Richard és Depardieu komikus kémiai párosát.

Il s'agit du premier film d'une trilogie mettant en scène le duo comique emblématique formé par Richard et Depardieu.

Dans le film, Gérard Depardieu incarne Campana, un détective privé coriace engagé pour retrouver Marie, la fille d’un riche homme d’affaires, mystérieusement disparue lors de ses vacances au Mexique. L’enquête s’avère complexe, plusieurs tentatives précédentes ayant échoué.

Un psychologue nommé Meyer, travaillant pour le père de Marie, propose alors un plan peu conventionnel. Marie étant extrêmement malchanceuse et sujette aux accidents, Meyer suggère d’envoyer quelqu’un d’aussi malchanceux pour retrouver sa trace.
