The full-length portrait of an unknown couple walking hand in hand—silent, timeless, and mysterious—became the poetic catalyst for these works. Although history does not tell us who they were, where they came from, or where they were journeying, their unity transcends time. In Kurtág’s music, their quiet footsteps seem to echo gently across centuries.

Composed in April–May 2013, the first piece is dedicated to Menahem Pressler in honor of his 90th birthday, while the second piece (Double) pays tribute to French pianist and teacher Valérie Haluk. The pieces may be performed separately or as a pair.

Published in 2016 to celebrate Kurtág's 90th birthday, this elegant paperback edition offers a rare glimpse into the composer’s reflective, deeply human musical world.

Ez a különleges kiadvány Kurtág György két bensőséges zongoradarabját gyűjti egybe, amelyeket egy megható, több mint 4000 éves egyiptomi faszobor inspirált a párizsi Louvre Egyiptomi Gyűjteményéből. Az ismeretlen pár kézfogása – csendes, időtlen, titokzatos – költői ihletforrássá vált Kurtág számára. Nem tudjuk, kik voltak, honnan jöttek, vagy merre tartottak, de összetartozásuk örökkévaló bizonyosságként jelenik meg. Kurtág zenéjében mintha hallani lehetne csendes lépteiket is.
