Nú er Biblían komin út hjá JPV útgáfu í nýrri þýðingu sem unnið hefur verið að í rúman hálfan annan áratug. Þetta er fyrsta heildarþýðing Biblíunnar frá árinu 1912 en sú sjötta frá upphafi. Aftur á móti er þetta ellefta íslenska biblíuútgáfan en sumar útgáfurnar voru prentaðar mörgum sinnum.

Að þessu sinni eru Apókrýfu bækur Gamla testamentisins hafðar með en þær hafa ekki birst í íslenskum biblíuútgáfum síðan árið 1859. Apókrýfu bækurnar urðu flestar til á síðustu tveimur öldunum fyrir Krists burð og eru náskyldari yngri ritum Gamla testamentisins. Þýðing þeirra frá árinu 1994 hefur verið endurskoðuð.

Nýja biblíuþýðingin miðast við breiðan lesendahóp og notkun í helgihaldi kirkju og safnaða. Þýtt er nákvæmlega úr frummálunum, hebresku og grísku, og tillit tekið til stíls frumtexta og íslenskrar biblíumálshefðar. Þetta er Biblía 21. aldarinnar.

Biblían kemur í tveimur stærðum og fimm útgáfum og hún er prentuð í tveimur litum. Snið Biblíunnar er gyllt og hún er með einum, tveimur eða þremur lesborðum. Í Biblíunni eru átta blaðsíður með litprentuðum kortum, tímatal, orðaskýringar og mikilvægir ritningarstaðir. Í heild er hún 1872 blaðsíður.

The Bible has now been published by JPV in a new translation that has been worked on for over half a decade. This is the first complete translation of the Bible since 1912, but the sixth since the beginning. On the other hand, this is the eleventh Icelandic Bible version, but some versions were printed many times.

This time, the Apocrypha books of the Old Testament are included, but they have not appeared in Icelandic Bible editions since 1859. Most of the Apocrypha books were created in the last two centuries before the birth of Christ and are more closely related to the younger writings of the Old Testament. Their translation from 1994 has been revised.

The new Bible translation is aimed at a wide readership and use in the liturgy of the church and congregations. It is translated accurately from the original languages, Hebrew and Greek, and the style of the original text and the Icelandic biblical language tradition are taken into account. This is the Bible of the 21st century.

The Bible comes in two sizes and five versions, and it is printed in two colors. The format of the Bible is golden and it has one, two or three reading boards. The Bible has eight pages with color printed maps, a calendar, glossaries and important scriptures. In total, it is 1872 pages.
