BLEEDING HUNGARY - as Dezső Kosztolányi called his country - mutilated and humiliated, he was forced to acknowledge that he had to start social construction almost from scratch.
By choosing a title borrowed from him, we undertook to present: how the Hungarian intellectual life, the Hungarian society of all times, tried to process the unprocessable.
Our film compilation is a remembrance, but also a tribute to the example set by our ancestors, who undertook the impossible, climbing from the depths of the abyss. At the same time, we would like to show that the XX. in a fundamentally changed social and political environment from the end of the 20th century, what are the possibilities for the cross-border reunification of the millions of Hungarians scattered in Central Europe.
As an eternal reminder of this task, the Trianon cross in the picture, defiled by bullets, served as a cynical target for shooting exercises in the border of Kőszeg before 1990.
In the film, we recall the thoughts of classical and contemporary poets, writers, scientists, and politicians with the participation of well-known actors, singers, public figures, as well as Kormorán, who expresses the Hungarian sense of life.
István Nemeskürty "What happened to us?" in his book, he cites the recent Hungarian political leader who urged his people: "Let's learn to be small." To this, Mr. Tanár replied: "But we are not small. They're stumps! We must not tolerate further mutilation. Dare to be big!"

A VÉRZŐ MAGYARORSZÁG - ahogy Kosztolányi Dezső nevezte hazáját – megcsonkítva, megalázva kénytelen volt tudomásul venni, hogy szinte elölről kell kezdenie a társadalmi építkezést.
A tőle kölcsönzött címválasztással arra vállalkoztunk, hogy bemutassuk: a magyar szellemi élet, a mindenkori magyar társadalom hogyan próbálta feldolgozni a feldolgozhatatlant.
Filmösszeállításunk emlékezés, de egyben tisztelgés is az ősök példamutatása előtt, akik vállalkoztak a lehetetlenre, a szakadék mélyéről történő felkapaszkodásra. Ugyanakkor fel szeretnénk mutatni, hogy a XX. század végétől egy alapjaiban megváltozott társadalmi, politikai közegben milyen lehetőségek vannak a Közép-Európában szétszóródott magyarság millióinak határokon átívelő újraegyesítésére.
Erre a feladatra figyelmeztet örök mementóként a képen látható, golyók által meggyalázott Trianon-kereszt, amely 1990 előtt Kőszeg határában a lőgyakorlatok cinikus célpontjaként szolgált.
A filmben közismert színészek, énekesek, közéleti személyiségek, valamint a magyar életérzést kifejező Kormorán együttes közreműködésével, klasszikus és kortárs költők, írók, tudósok, politikusok gondolatait idézzük fel.
Nemeskürty István „Mi történt velünk?” című könyvében idézi a közelmúltból azt a magyar politikai vezetőt, aki felszólította népét: „Tanuljunk meg kicsinek lenni.” Erre a Tanár úr válasza: „Csakhogy mi nem kicsinyek vagyunk. Hanem csonkák! Ne tűrjük, hogy tovább csonkítsanak. Merjünk nagyok lenni!”
