Overview
Skorpió arrived at A Show Megy Tovább in 1993 with something to prove. The album opens with "Elég volt a sok dumából" — a declaration as much as a song title — and keeps its foot down through nine tracks of lean, unapologetic Hungarian hard rock. Frenreisz Károly anchors it all: bass, saxophone, lead voice, and the author of nearly every song on the record.
Track 3, "Oh, Freddie mért mentél el," is an In Memoriam Freddie Mercury — a sincere tribute that sits naturally among the harder-edged material rather than interrupting it. "Kell, hogy süssön már a Nap" is the longest track at just over five minutes and one of the most melodically developed. "Ezer dal" closes the album at 5:11, bringing the total running time to exactly 38 minutes.
The booklet carries an unusual proud note: "A zenekar a felvétel folyamán semmilyen computert, gépet nem használt" — the band used no computers or machines during recording. Everything was tracked live at Reaktor Stúdió, engineered by Németh Gábor, with artwork by Fujkin István.
For collectors of Hungarian rock, this is a characterful album from a band that had been at it since the early 1970s, still playing it straight and loud in 1993.
Interesting Facts
- Skorpió was formed in 1969–70 and became one of Hungary's most enduring hard rock bands, with Frenreisz Károly as its central figure across decades.
- The band's proud refusal to use any computers or machines during recording was printed on the sleeve — a deliberate statement about live, organic performance in the early digital era.
- "Oh, Freddie mért mentél el" is one of the few Hungarian rock tributes to Freddie Mercury, who died in November 1991, roughly two years before this album's release.
- The album was released on the Mega imprint of Hungaroton–Gong Kft., the same label family that housed much of Hungary's leading rock output in the 1980s–90s.
- Pálvölgyi Géza, on keyboards, had been one of Hungary's most active session and band musicians across multiple decades.
- Rights are administered by Biem/Artisjus, the Hungarian collecting society.
