Overview
This is P. Mobil caught live and loud — The Rest of P. Mobil, seventeen tracks taped at the Ferencváros stadium on 11 June 1994, several of them released here for the first time. The title is a wink at the usual "Best Of"; this is the band on stage, where they always made the most sense.
P. Mobil were the eternal outsiders of Hungarian hard rock — the original "black sheep" who spent the seventies pushed to the margins for refusing to soften their songs or their stance. By 1994 the live set had hardened into a catalogue of crowd staples and deeper cuts, and this disc leans into both: the singalong "Csizma az asztalon," the wry "Ez az élet, Babolcsai néni!," the barreling "Vonat," and the closing "Az utolsó cigaretta." Four tracks are marked as first releases, which is what lifts the disc above a routine concert souvenir.
The line-up is the mid-nineties band: Tunyogi Péter out front on vocals, Zeffer András on keys, Kékesi "Bajnok" László on bass, Sárvári "Schiller" Vilmos on guitar, Németh Gábor on drums, with Schuster Lóránt steering as bandleader. Most lyrics are his; the music is shared across the band and its alumni, including guitarist Bencsik Sándor.
A raw, generous live document for hard-rock collectors and anyone building out the P. Mobil discography. Sung entirely in Hungarian.
Interesting Facts
- The title plays on "The Best Of" and pairs with the band's earlier "The Worst of P. Mobil" — self-deprecating humour was always part of the P. Mobil identity.
- P. Mobil were among the first acts branded "black sheep" by the state record industry for refusing to rewrite or censor their lyrics.
- The recording was made at the Fradi pálya, home of Ferencváros, on 11 June 1994 — a stadium show captured warts-and-all.
- Four tracks (marked on the sleeve) appear here for the first time, making the disc a draw even for fans who own the studio albums.
- Closing track "Az utolsó cigaretta" carries a co-writing credit for Vikidál Gyula, the powerhouse vocalist of the band's classic era, with lyrics by Földes László "Hobo."
- Post-production was done at the band's own "P" Studio, with Ottó Tivadar engineering.
