Mahmood Jamal lives in London and is a Member of The British Academy of Film And Television Arts (BAFTA). He has a degree in South Asian Studies (Urdu/History) from the School Of Oriental & African Studies, London University.
He has been involved in the cultural field for over two decades and has served on The Greater London Arts literature panel, was Vice Chair of Roundhouse Black Arts Centre Steering Committee, Member of Steering committee British Institute Of Biography Served as Jury member for BFI award, Represented workshops on BFI Production Board and was the Co-editor of Black Phoenix Magazine-a groundbreaking journal of visual arts with artist Rasheed Araeen. He also received the Minority Rights Group Award in 1984 for his translation work and critical writing.
