English Summary:

The story begins with Cyril, an 12-year-old boy in a children's home in the working class town of Seraing near Liege, attempting to reach his father by phone. His single father, no mother is ever mentioned, promised him that he would only live there for 30 days. The children's home staff tells him to hang up the phone since once again his father is not going to answer and go outside to play with the other children. Cyril refuses and when the phone is disconnected he bites a carer then runs from the director's office, attempting to abscond by climbing over a fence with two carers on his heels. He is pulled from the fence and restrained before being returned to the children's home, where he is later seen sleeping in a dormitory as forlorn music plays. Soon after Cyril absconds again successfully by lying to a carer that he needs the toilet one day after school, when he is supposed to be outside playing with the other kids. Instead he flees through a side door and takes a city bus alone in search of his father.

French Summary:

Cyril, un enfant de presque douze ans, hébergé dans un foyer pour jeunes, tente désespérément de retrouver son père. Le jeune garçon refuse d'admettre que son père a déménagé sans prévenir, l'a de fait abandonné et a vendu le vélo qu'il lui avait acheté. Dans le cadre des recherches de familles d’accueil, il rencontre Samantha, une coiffeuse. Elle va s'attacher à lui et arrive à retrouver et racheter le vélo. Ce vélo noir qui accompagne Cyril tout le long du film représente bien plus qu'un vélo, c'est le lien vers son père. Un contact est finalement établi avec son père, mais ce dernier reste réticent puis finalement trouve le courage d'avouer qu'il ne reprendra pas son fils. Perturbé, Cyril pose des problèmes à Samantha malgré toute la bonne volonté qu'elle développe pour apprivoiser le garçon. Une après-midi, Cyril rencontre un jeune trafiquant de drogue local, Wes, qui arrive facilement à manipuler le garçon puis tente de l'impliquer dans ses méfaits. Les choses tournent mal, Cyril hésitera entre Samantha et Wes puis comprendra où est la bonne voie.

Ciryl Catoul 11 éves, egy igazi rossz gyerek, aki agresszív, makacs, és apja számára kezelhetetlen. Ezért is dönt úgy a férfi, hogy gyermekotthonba teszi a fiút. Mikor Ciryl rádöbben, hogy ez nem ideiglenes állapot, hanem apja meg akart tőle szabadulni, elindul biciklijével, hogy megkapja a választ, miért tették ezt vele. Véletlenül összeismerkedik a harmincas éveiben járó fodrásszal, Samantha-val, aki segít neki, hogy megtalálja a válaszokat, még ha az fájdalmat okoz is.
