Overview
Nineteen national champions. One legendary venue. Three nights in Brussels, March 2015.
The 5th European Blues Challenge landed at the Ancienne Belgique — one of Belgium's most storied concert halls — and this signed compilation is what remains of it in physical form. Every act here won their domestic competition first. They earned Brussles.
The range is wide. Austria's Hermann Posch & Christian Sandera open with slide resonator guitar and harmonica. Belgium's Doghouse Sam & His Magnatones bring upright bass and hollow-body guitar. Hungary's Éles Gabor Trio delivers "Empty Living Room." Finland's Micke Bjorklof & Blue Strip — Ambassadors of Blues music throughout Scandinavia for over two decades — contribute "Ramblified." The UK closes with Laurence Jones on "Soul Swamp River."
Nineteen tracks. Nineteen countries. Signed by the people who were there.
Interesting Facts
- The Ancienne Belgique in Brussels is one of Europe's most respected mid-capacity concert venues, with a history stretching back to 1931. Hosting the 5th EBC there gave the event particular weight.
- Hungary's Éles Gabor Trio plays original compositions by guitarist and singer Éles Gábor. The trio blends soul, jazz, and blues, and has performed at major Hungarian festivals including Gastroblues in Paks and Lamantin Jazz Festival in Szombathely.
- Finland's Micke Bjorklof & Blue Strip have been active since 1991, performing on stages across Europe and North America, including the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. They are widely regarded as one of Scandinavia's leading blues bands.
- Croatia's Delta Blues Gang, from Pula, plays slide resonator guitar alongside electric blues, with a distinct Delta-rooted sound and energetic performance style.
- Laurence Jones (UK) had already established a strong reputation on the European blues circuit by 2015, with his debut album released at age 17 and a growing international following.
- The Jessy Martens Band (Germany) combines West Coast swing, jump, R&B, and soul. Leader Jessy Martens has been compared to William Clarke and James Cotton for his harmonica work.
- Latvia's Elastic did not submit music in time for inclusion on this disc — their absence is noted in the booklet — making the 2015 compilation a document of 19 rather than the full 20 competing nations.
- This copy carries six or more signatures on the front cover, written directly over the event artwork.

Áttekintés
Tizenkilenc nemzeti bajnok.
Minden itt szereplő zenekar először megnyerte a hazai versenyét. Megérdemelték Brüsszelt.
A paletta széles. A belga Doghouse Sam & His Magnatones talpbőgőt és üreges testű gitárt hoz.
