Her daughter, Polly (Mary Eaton), is in love with struggling architect Bob Adams (Oscar Shaw), who works as a clerk at the hotel while dreaming of developing the area into Cocoanut Manor. Mrs. Potter wishes for Polly to marry Harvey Yates (Cyril Ring), whom she believes to be of a higher social standing than the clerk. However, Harvey is actually a con man plotting to steal the dowager's diamond necklace with the assistance of his partner, Penelope (Kay Francis).
