Overview

Here is an authentic piece of Soviet aviation history. This lot features a complete USSR Parachutist Instructor badge set alongside a "Civil Aviation USSR" commemorative pin for the Ilyushin Il-76 transport aircraft. The main instructor badge is modular—it comes with interchangeable metal plates to switch the rating between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Class.

The set also includes separate screw-on drop pendants ("chamilons") indicating the number of jumps completed: 100, 400, 600, and 800. These badges are crafted from classic Soviet-era lightweight aluminum and detailed with vibrant blue, white, green, and red cold enamels. Everything stores neatly inside an original, plain cardboard slide box from the era.

Interesting Facts

  • The main badge features the word "ИНСТРУКТОР" (Instructor) across the top, crowned by the classic Soviet red star with a hammer and sickle.
  • The interchangeable class plates let an instructor update their badge as they advanced through official ranking tiers without needing an entirely new pin.
  • The horizontal rectangular badge reads "ГРАЖДАНСКАЯ АВИАЦИЯ СССР" (Civil Aviation USSR) and depicts the iconic Il-76, a multi-purpose four-engine strategic airlifter designed by the Ilyushin design bureau in the late 1960s.
  • Jump counter tags like the ones included here were highly prized by Soviet paratroopers and DOSAAF (Volunteer Society for Cooperation with the Army, Aviation, and Navy) members as physical proof of their aerial experience.
