Initially, the Commission for the Translation of the New Testament into Russian at the St. Sergius Theological Institute in Paris, which Bishop Cassian headed from 1951 to 1964, was only supposed to revise the Synodal translation. However, over time, the members of the Commission came to the conclusion about the need for a new Russian version of the New Testament part of the Bible. The Cassian version of the New Testament took into account the achievements of Biblical textology, the connection of the New Testament Koine Greek with the Hebrew and Aramaic languages, as well as some changes that have occurred in the Russian language since the first publication of the Synodal translation. The translation was fully published in 1970. The New Testament in the Modern Russian Translation of the RBO The modern Russian translation of the New Testament is distinguished by the exact transmission of the meaning of the Holy Scriptures, combined with clarity and accessibility of presentation. One of the main tasks of translation is to reflect in the modern literary language the semantic, stylistic, genre and artistic diversity of the books of the New Testament. The translation is based on the best editions of the original texts of the New Testament and uses the latest achievements of biblical scientific research. The book is addressed to everyone who studies the New Testament and the history of its translation into Russian.
