Overview
Traditional Entertainers is a Kenyan dance record — twelve tracks of bright, guitar-and-percussion East African pop sung in Swahili and other local languages. The Gonda band works the groove the way coastal and lakeside Kenyan bands do: interlocking guitars, steady rhythm, and warm group vocals built for the dancefloor.
Song titles tell you where it's rooted — "Gi Lake Victoria," "Kenya Safari," "Ngombe Ni Mali" — and the feel runs from upbeat party numbers to slower, sweeter tunes. It's music made to entertain, exactly as the title promises, with none of the polish-for-export gloss that flattens a lot of "world" releases.
Recorded at Tropical Recording Studio in Malindi and released on the Kelele label through Germany's TIM, this is an authentic slice of working Kenyan band music. Sealed and ready to spin.
