Josef Suk Rudolf Firkušný
This recital brings together the violinist Josef Suk (b. 1929) and pianist Rudolf Firkušný (1912-1994). Both have unique musical connections to two of the composers on this program: Firkušný was a student of Leoš Janáček's and Suk is the great-grandson of Antonín Dvořák (and grandson of the composer Josef Suk). In careers dating back to 1920 and 1954, respectively, Firkušný and Suk established themselves as performers of the first rank. This concert, recorded in Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum, Prague, on May 18, 1992, is a precious document of these two illustrious Czech artists in performance in their native country.
