Overview

This is the Borderline night from Joe Bonamassa's celebrated 2013 Tour de Force — four consecutive London concerts, each in a different venue, each revisiting a distinct phase of his career. The Borderline, a tiny London club, hosted the power-trio show: just guitar, bass, and drums, digging into Bonamassa's early, rawer material.

Stripped to a trio, it's the leanest and most ferocious of the four nights. The setlist pulls deep cuts and extended jams — "Spanish Boots," "Blues Deluxe," "Burning Hell" — and closes with a roaring take on Hendrix's "Are You Experienced?" The small room and small band put all the focus on the playing.

For blues-rock fans, it's Bonamassa at his most direct and improvisational.
