Overview

Live at the Greek Theatre is Joe Bonamassa's tribute to the three Kings — B.B., Albert, and Freddie — recorded at the open-air Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Two discs, a big band behind him, and a setlist built almost entirely from the songs those guitarists made famous.

This is Bonamassa playing the music that taught him, and it shows in the phrasing: "I'll Play The Blues For You," "Hummingbird," "The Thrill Is Gone," "Born Under A Bad Sign." Rather than copy the originals, he gives them a full horn-section arrangement and lets the band stretch out across a warm live mix.

The set closes with "Riding With The Kings," a studio track written for the project that ties the tribute together. A generous, well-recorded night for anyone who loves electric blues played with respect and firepower.
