Graham Parker is one of most important singer/songwriters of the Rock era. His albums are consistently listed on numerous critic's best lists and his "raspy soulful-punk" voice can convey vitriol and anger as well as tenderness like no other. Parker and his backing band the Rumour played two shows at Rockpalast in 1978 and 1980. The 1978 show included a horn section for accent, emulating the lineup on the "Heat Treatment" album and was taped at WDR Studio L. The 1980 appearance was taped at Gurgahalle, Essen where he opened the 7th Rockpalast night. The late Nicky Hopkins sat in on keyboards for Bob Andrews at this show, which was part of the tour supporting the album "The Up Escalator", the final album of Parker & the Rumour's tenure together. The DVD includes an extra feature: an short interview with Parker.

GRAHAM PARKER has held onto his reputation as one of the most important singer-songwriters for more than 25 years. Two of his albums are listed in the "Rolling Stone" magazine's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". With his raspy "soulful-punk" voice Parker added his own touch to the optimistic spirit in the U.K. of the early 1970s and brought to bear his musical influences: Rock, R & B, Soul - and Country. Together with THE RUMOUR, GRAHAM PARKER gave two shows at the Playhouse Down.
