Hungarian Summary:

A magyar animáció a 60-as évek eleje óta közel 30 éven át a magyar kultúra egyik első számú exportcikke volt. Az 1989-es rendszerváltozásig, amíg a szocialista blokk országaiból származó rendszerkritika Nyugaton politikai kuriózumnak számított, a kelet-európai animációs alkotók, köztük a magyarok, sorban nyerték el a fontosabb díjakat a világ fesztiváljain. Ez a gyűjteményes kiadvány az „aranykor”, a 60-70-80-as évek  nemzetközi fesztiváldíjakat nyert filmjeikből szemezget.

English Summary:

Animated films were among the premium export items of Hungarian culture for nearly 30 years, from the 1960s onwards. This DVD-publication of the Hungarian National Film Archive (Directorate of the Hungarian National Film Fund) is a selection of award-winning short films from the three decades of the ‘golden age’ of Hungarian animated film, created between 1960 and 1989. Consisting of almost 50 titles, the DVD-compilation will be presented by György Ráduly director of the Film Archive, Eszter Fazekas manager of digitalization and restoration, Márton Moldován film restorer and animation film historian Anna Ida Orosz, curator of the compilation.

Hungarian animation was one of the premium export items of Hungarian culture for nearly 30 years, from the 1960s onwards, during the Kádár era. Throughout the 1960s, 70s and 80s, right up until the change of regime in 1989 (while the countries of the Socialist bloc counted as some kind of political curiosity), the animators of Central Europe, among them Hungarian directors, picked up dozens of top awards at festivals around the world. This publication selects from the award-winning films from the three decades of the ‘golden age’ of animation.
