English Summary:

Gattaca is a 1997 American science fiction film written and directed by Andrew Niccol. It stars Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, with Jude Law, Loren Dean, Ernest Borgnine, Gore Vidal, and Alan Arkin appearing in supporting roles. The film presents a biopunk vision of a future society driven by eugenics where potential children are conceived through genetic selection to ensure they possess the best hereditary traits of their parents. Végre itt a tökéletes világ, ahol a gyerekek génsebészeti úton jönnek létre, és így mindegyikük előre megtervezett, hibátlan példány. Van azonban még néhány természetes körülmények között fogant egyed is. Ők a társadalom számkivetettjei.
 
Vincent Freeman élete sem kémcsőben kezdődött, ő mégsem adja fel álmát, hogy egy nap űrhajós lesz. Ennek elérésére a genetikai elit egy tagjának személyazonosságát ölti magára és azonnal megkezdheti az űrhajóskiképzést Gattacában.
Ekkor kezd csak beindulni az élete. Öszszeismerkedik egy lánnyal is.
Azonban gyilkosság történik Gattacában. A nagy erőkkel meginduló nyomozás őt is leleplezheti, hiszen a nyomok arra utalnak, hogy egy "tökéletlen" emberi lény volt a tettes.
 
A két főszereplő, Ethan Hawke (Szép remények, Holt költők társasága, Életben maradtak) és Uma Thurman (Bosszúállók, Batman és Robin, Ponyvaregény) között a film forgatása során szerelem szövődött. Azóta összeházasodtak, néhány hónapja pedig megszületett első gyermekük is - természetes úton.
