In his book, he argues that there are three types of reliability tests that we should use when examining any document:
Internal evidence (what the document says about itself).
External proof (how it adapts to the facts, dates, persons of the age of the document).
Bibliographic examination (how the text came from the original to the copies and manuscripts that remained for us).
