Overview

This is an authentic vintage Soviet banner finial, meant to sit atop a ceremonial flagpole or parade staff. Here is the thing—finding these in complete, unmodified condition isn't always easy. Its got the classic hammer and sickle nestled inside a sharp teardrop laurel wreath frame, topped off by a five-pointed star.

The piece is casted from thick brass and has a nice heavy feel in your hand. It havent been polished down, so it still keeps its dark, aged look in the deep groovs and natural spots on the mounting tube. There is a single hole drilled through the base socket so you can screw or pin it tightly onto a wooden staff. Its a solid piece of history for collectors of Soviet memorabilia, military history, or unique vintage metalwork.

Interesting Facts

  • These finials were used on official Communist Party flags, trade union banners, and school parade flags during state holidays like May Day and Victory Day.
  • The laurel wreath design surrounding the symbols was typically reserved for ceremonial and award banners to signify triumph and honor.
  • Because these were mass-cast in different regional foundries across the USSR, slight variations in thickness and sharpness of the laurel leaves make each batch unique.
