Overview

Fourteen pieces. One guitarist. No band, no producer telling him what to do.

Dai Beatles a Jobim passando per... ("From the Beatles to Jobim, passing through...") is Andrea Braido alone at his home studio, working his way through a personal map of the music that shaped him. Beatles compositions sit alongside Antonio Carlos Jobim bossa novas, George Harrison, Gershwin, Bacharach, and a handful of jazz and Latin standards. The "passando per" in the title — "passing through" — is the key. This is a guitarist's private itinerary, not a genre exercise.

Braido plays all instruments himself: acoustic and classical guitar, electric guitars, electric sitar, and bass. The arrangements are his own throughout. The booklet carries a dedication to his late father Rinaldo Braido (1924–1993), and his liner notes describe the music here as inseparable from his earliest musical formation.

This copy is signed by Braido on the inside booklet dedication page.

Interesting Facts

  • Andrea Braido is an Italian guitarist who has worked as a session musician and sideman on the Italian and European music circuit for decades, with a catalogue spanning multiple solo releases across jazz, blues, and fusion styles.
  • The album is dedicated to Rinaldo Braido (1924–1993), Andrea's father. The booklet note credits his parents with recognising his musical aptitude early and encouraging him to listen widely — a musical education that directly shaped the repertoire on this disc.
  • Among the influences Braido cites in the liner notes: Jimi Hendrix, ELP, Colosseum, Jimmy McGriff, Ekseption, and Return to Forever — a range that explains why a Beatles-to-Jobim album sounds less obvious than it might.
  • Antonio Carlos Jobim (A.C. Jobim), represented here by "Samba de Uma Nota Só" and "Wave," is the Brazilian composer widely credited as one of the founders of bossa nova. Both pieces are among his most performed compositions internationally.
  • Track 11, "Tequila," is credited to C. Rio — the stage name of Chuck Rio (Daniel Flores), the Mexican-American musician who wrote and recorded the original in 1958 with The Champs.
  • Track 13, "Orfeo negro," is by Luiz Bonfá — the theme from the 1959 Brazilian film Black Orpheus, which won both the Palme d'Or at Cannes and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
  • The album was produced in association with Videoradio, an Italian independent media and music label.

Áttekintés

Tizennégy darab. Egy gitáros. Sem zenekar, sem producer.

Dai Beatles a Jobim passando per... ("A Beatlestől Jobimig, áthaladva...")

  • Antonio Carlos Jobim (A.C. Jobim), akit itt a "Samba de Uma Nota Só" és a "Wave" képvisel, a bossa nova egyik megalapítójának tartott brazil zeneszerzőként ismert.
  • A 13. szám, az "Orfeo Negro", Luiz Bonfától származik — az 1959-es brazil Fekete Orfeusz film témája, amely elnyerte mind a cannes-i Arany Pálmát, mind az Akadémia Legjobb idegen nyelvű film díját.
