He was the leader of the Bolshevik faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party, which later became the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He was the main architect of the October Revolution of 1917, which overthrew the provisional government and established a socialist state. He also implemented various economic and social reforms, such as land redistribution, nationalization of industries, and workers’ councils. He also faced several challenges, such as civil war, foreign intervention, famine, and opposition from other socialist factions. He died in 1924 from a series of strokes.
