Overview

Un indien dans la ville (translated as An Indian in the City) is a 1994 French comedy film directed by Hervé Palud. The film was released in English-speaking markets under the title Little Indian, Big City and features a unique blend of humor and cultural exploration.

The story revolves around Steph, a commodities broker living in Paris, who is looking to divorce his wife, Patricia, in order to marry another woman named Charlotte. However, Patricia has spent the last 13 years living among the Amazonas Indians in French Guiana. Determined to finalize the divorce, Steph travels to the Indian village to meet Patricia and request her signature on the divorce papers.

Upon their reunion, Patricia reveals that they have a teenage son, Mimi-Siku, who has been raised in the culture of the Amazonas Indians. Patricia agrees to sign the divorce papers only if Steph takes Mimi-Siku on a visit to Paris. Reluctantly, Steph agrees, and the adventure begins.

In Paris, Mimi-Siku experiences the modern world for the first time, encountering new cultures and making friends, including falling in love with Sophie, the daughter of Steph's colleague Richard. The film explores themes of family, cultural differences, and the comedic mishaps that arise from contrasting lifestyles.

L’histoire suit Stéphane, un courtier en produits de base vivant à Paris, qui souhaite divorcer de sa femme Patricia afin d’épouser une autre femme, Charlotte. Mais Patricia vit depuis treize ans parmi les Indiens d’Amazonie, en Guyane française. Pour finaliser le divorce, Stéphane se rend dans le village amazonien pour retrouver Patricia et lui faire signer les papiers.

Lors de leurs retrouvailles, Patricia lui apprend qu’ils ont un fils adolescent, Mimi-Siku, élevé dans la culture amazonienne. Elle accepte de signer les papiers uniquement si Stéphane accepte d’emmener Mimi-Siku à Paris. À contrecœur, Stéphane accepte, et l’aventure commence.

À Paris, Mimi-Siku découvre le monde moderne pour la première fois. Il fait face à de nombreux chocs culturels, se fait de nouveaux amis et tombe amoureux de Sophie, la fille du collègue de Stéphane, Richard.
