Overview
This is the night Montreux's own festival director called the highlight of its thirty-eight-year history — Carlos Santana's "Hymns for Peace," a one-off summit staged on 15 July 2004. Santana pulled a staggering cast onto one stage: jazz titans Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Ravi Coltrane, guitarists John McLaughlin and Nile Rodgers, and singers from Patti Austin to Angélique Kidjo and Steve Winwood, all built around a program of songs about peace and freedom.
The signed gatefold is what lifts this copy. Carlos Santana has autographed the inner spread in black marker, the signature sitting against the deep-purple "Live at Montreux" artwork — provenance that turns a deluxe set into a genuine collector's piece.
Musically it roams from "Afro Blue" and "A Love Supreme" through reggae and soul anthems — "Exodus," "Redemption Song," "What's Going On" — to a closing "Ode to Joy" with a full choir. It's less a Santana greatest-hits night than a once-assembled supergroup playing for a cause, captured complete across two discs.

- The concert reunited Carlos Santana and Wayne Shorter, who had toured together in a special band back in 1988.
