About the Author:

Peter Wick studied Protestant theology in Basel. His theological studies he deepened in Catholic theology at the University of Friborg and in the history of Jewish antiquity at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. After completing a Ph.D. thesis on the rhetorical beauty of the Philippians and his strategy of argumentation, he habilitated in the NT on the emergence of early Christian services in the context of Jewish temple, synagogue and domestic piety. He was ordained a pastor in Switzerland. In 2000 he became assistant professor for NT and ancient religious history at the University of Basel. Since 2003 he has been professor of exegesis and theology of the New Testament at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
