Overview
Perfect Landing is the sequel to Canadian Brass's award-winning Takes Flight, and it shows the world's most famous brass quintet doing what it does best: making serious repertoire sparkle. Forty-five years into their career, the group sounds as fresh and witty as ever.
The program is pure Canadian Brass — a clever mix of Bach, Mozart, Latin standards and their trademark jazzy arrangements. There's a "Perfect Landing" curtain-raiser built on the Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, the swinging "Dixie Bach," "Cool Bach" and "Bebop Bach," plus warm Latin numbers like "Granada," "Vals Peruano" and "El Relicario."
The disc ends in grand style with Bach's monumental Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor, arranged for brass — twelve minutes of cathedral-sized sound that shows off the ensemble's depth and blend.
