Mother Teresa, born as Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia, was an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary. She founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Catholic order of nuns dedicated to helping the poor3. Known as “The Saint of the Gutters”, she devoted her life to serving the poor and destitute around the world. She passed away on September 5, 1997, in Calcutta, West Bengal, India.

Bhutan, officially known as the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a landlocked South Asian country situated in the Eastern Himalayas. It is located between China in the north and India in the south5. The country is known for its stunning natural scenery and strong sense of culture and tradition6. The capital and largest city is Thimphu.

The term “འབྲས” in Tibetan translates to “(cooked) rice” or “fruit” according to Wiktionary.

“The Saint of the Gutters” is a title often associated with Mother Teresa due to her selfless service to the poor and needy348. She lived among those she served, often in very challenging conditions, which earned her this title.
