I only recently discovered Marcus Roberts and am completely blown away by this young man's talent. I can't recall being so captivated by a jazz musician (other than my absolutely favorite Wynton Marsalis). Many artists have done their own interpretation of Gershwin but this was something altogether different. He moves from the major to the minor so swiftly as if he penned the music instead of Gershwin. There is something reverent and risky in how Roberts drives the piano; he clearly is paying homage, yet taking it to a whole other level. I hope to hear so much more from this awesomely talented young man!!
