Overview

Kredenc is a Hungarian folk-pop duo formed by Berczelly Bálint and Mismás Attila, known for their cheerful, accessible take on Hungarian nóta and folk-pop traditions. Lenn a délibábos Hortobágyon is their 2005 Magneoton album — 15 tracks of good-humoured Hungarian popular song drawing on the puszta and countryside imagery that runs through the folk-song tradition, updated with contemporary arrangements and a closing dance remix of the title track.

The repertoire mixes original compositions with stylistically folk-rooted pop: "Lenn a délibábos Hortobágyon," "Országúton hosszú a jegenyesor," and "Lemegyek a pince fenekére" sit alongside the playful medley "3+2 mix (Halvány őszi rózsa + Kiscsónakom)" and the closing "Cre-dance remix" of the title track. The arrangements are by Berczelly Bálint and Dömötör Balázs, with guitar by Pusztai László and furulya (Hungarian flute) by Balogh József adding traditional folk colour.

The album was produced by Dömötör Balázs of Truesound and recorded at Sound-Box Hangstúdió. It sits squarely in the Hungarian folk-pop mainstream — accessible, melodic, warm in tone, well suited to family listening.

Interesting Facts

  • The Hortobágy, referenced in the album's title, is Hungary's largest national park and the largest natural grassland in Europe — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an enduring symbol of Hungarian identity and landscape in folk song and poetry.
  • The "délibáb" (mirage) is one of the most romanticised natural phenomena of the Hungarian puszta, appearing frequently in 19th-century Hungarian poetry and folk song as a symbol of both beauty and illusion.
  • Kredenc's name refers to a traditional Hungarian kitchen sideboard — a domestic, warm, deliberately un-rock image that signals their folk-pop positioning.
  • The Magneoton label, which released this album, was the dominant force in Hungarian popular music distribution from the 1970s onward and partnered with Warner Music in the post-communist period.
  • The inclusion of a dance remix ("Cre-dance remix") of the title track as the closing track reflects the standard Hungarian folk-pop release format of the period, which typically added a dance version to broaden radio and club appeal.
