One of the finest singers in jazz history, Johnny Hartman's discography made up in quality for its lack of quantity. This, of course, adds extra importance to each and every Hartman recording - especially his recordings in a small band format, as is the case with these two outstanding Tokyo albums. While there was an American CD reissue of these LPs in the 1990's, both albums on the release were incomplete, with each session missing two different songs. The vocalist is at his best on these dates with exquisite versions of "My Favorite Things", "Summertime", "Nature Boy", "On Green Dolphin Street", "My Funny Valentine", and also the previously unreleased recordings of "Greensleeves", "On A Clear Day", "Shadow Of Your Smile" and "Fly Me To The Moon" for the first time ever on CD.
