This is a great recording of traditional Boyash songs. The recording quality is great, and the performances sound entirely authentic with vocal shouts in the background and all. This CD is full of folk songs with a strong beat; they are dance songs after all. A few slightly slower lyrical songs are included which create a nice contrast in the overall flow of the CD.

The style of the Boyash Gypsies of Hungary seems to be very similar to Jewish Klezmer music, incorporating strong, steady rhythms as well as folk instruments such as mouth-bass, wooden spoons, whistles, and vocal calls . The lyrics are rustic and earthy, dealing in rural topics.

A great recording overall if you like Eastern European folk music.
