Overview
A signed copy of a film that the Hungarian state kept off screens for sixteen years. That is the short version.
P. Mobil rolled into Budai Ifjúsági Park on the night of 29 April 1983 and built something nobody had tried before on a Hungarian stage — a real wall. A thousand red bricks, stacked across the front of the stage, painted in huge letters: Magyar Fal, vigyázat: omlásveszély (Hungarian Wall, warning: collapse hazard). The opening chords of Rocktóber hit, guitarist Lóránt came at the bricks from behind, and it took three or four runs to flatten the thing. The crowd lost their minds. The cultural authorities of the era did not share the enthusiasm. The Koltay Gábor film was shelved for sixteen years.
This 2004 DVD is the rescue mission. Goldfish Records pulled the original footage out of the P. Mobil archive, cleaned the audio with help from Bálint Csaba and Monostori Péter at rockmuzeum, and put the whole thing back together with bonus content the original cut never had room for. The signed front cover from Schuster Lóránt — founder, bassist, and the man who put the band on stage that night — turns a strong reissue into a personal piece of Hungarian rock history.

A P. Mobil 1983. április 29-én este érkezett a Budai Ifjúsági Parkba, és olyat épített a magyar színpadon, amit előtte senki — egy valódi falat. Ezer darab vörös téglából rakva, a színpad elejére, óriási színes betűkkel ráfestve: Magyar Fal, vigyázat: omlásveszély. Felcsendült a Rocktóber első akkordja, Lóránt hátulról nekirontott a falnak, és csak a harmadik vagy negyedik nekifutásra sikerült teljesen ledönteni. A közönség megőrült. A korabeli kultúrpolitika kevésbé volt elragadtatva. Koltay Gábor filmje tizenhat évre fiókba került.
Ez a 2004-es DVD a mentőakció. A Goldfish Records elővette az eredeti felvételt a P. Mobil archívumából, a hanganyagot Bálint Csaba és Monostori Péter digitalizálta a rockmuzeum közreműködésével, és olyan extrákkal egészítették ki, amelyekre az eredeti változat nem hagyott helyet. A borítón Schuster Lóránt — alapító, basszusgitáros, a koncert szellemi gazdája — saját kezű aláírása szerepel, ami egy erős kiadásból személyes magyar rocktörténeti darabot csinál.
Interesting Facts
The "Magyar Fal" concept was a direct nod to Pink Floyd's The Wall, but P. Mobil flipped it — instead of pre-fab cardboard, they used real masonry. Engineer Lippai Béla designed the structure to collapse cleanly on stage. The choreography didn't always cooperate; band members later joked it took multiple attempts on the night to bring the wall fully to the ground.
The film was directed by Koltay Gábor, who would later become one of Hungary's most prominent rock-musical and historical-film directors (István, a király among them). P. Mobil itself, founded in 1973 around frontman/bassist Schuster Lóránt, is considered one of the foundational hard rock bands of the Hungarian scene, often mentioned in the same breath as Pokolgép, Edda Művek and Omega. The tracklist features compositions by guitarist Bencsik Sándor, Kékesi Bajnok László, Zeffer András, Sárvári Vilmos, and Schuster Lóránt, ending on Zsoldos Imre's Il Silenzio.
The signature on this copy belongs to Schuster Lóránt himself — the band's longtime leader and the architect behind the wall stunt.
Érdekes tények (Hungarian)
A "Magyar Fal" koncepció nyíltan utalt a Pink Floyd The Wall című albumára, de a P. Mobil továbbgondolta — papírmasé helyett valódi téglafalat építtetett. A szerkezetet Lippai Béla építészmérnök tervezte úgy, hogy színpadon biztonságosan omoljon össze. A koreográfia nem mindig engedelmeskedett: a banda tagjai később elmesélték, csak a harmadik-negyedik nekifutásra sikerült teljesen földig dönteni aznap este.
A filmet Koltay Gábor rendezte, aki később a magyar rockopera- és történelmi filmrendezés egyik legmeghatározóbb alakja lett (István, a király és társai). Maga a P. Mobil 1973-ban alakult Schuster Lóránt köré szerveződve, és a magyar hard rock egyik alapító zenekaraként tartják számon — egy lapon emlegetve a Pokolgéppel, az Edda Művekkel és az Omegával.
