Go Trabi Go is a 1991 German comedy and road movie directed by Peter Timm. It was the first major box office hit about events concerning the newly reunified Germany. Unlike other films in this period that focused on the problems following reunification, Go Trabi Go sees the main characters, former citizens of East Germany, explore places in Europe outside the Eastern Bloc that they were not allowed to visit during the Communist era.

The year is 1990 and Germany has been newly reunified. German teacher Udo Struutz decides that his family should go on their first vacation in the "west" to relive Goethe's Italian Journey in their family Trabant 601 ("Trabi").

Im Sommer 1990, dem Jahr der „Wiedervereinigung“, macht sich Familienvater und Deutschlehrer Udo Struutz mit seiner Frau Rita und der siebzehnjährigen Tochter Jacqueline auf, um mit seinem himmelblauen Trabant „Schorsch“ auf den Spuren Goethes von Bitterfeld nach Neapel zu reisen. Goethes Italienische Reise dient Udo dabei als Wegbeschreibung, und auf dem Kofferraumdeckel steht der von Goethe berichtete italienische Spruch: Neapel sehen und sterben.

A Lipcse közelében élő Struutz család elhatározza, hogy utazni mennek új szerzeményükkel: a Trabanttal. Örömük határtalan, végre eljött az éves szabadság ideje! Irány az aranyló Nyugat, Itália. A történet főszereplője a világoskék Trabant, mellyel Velence felé szágulda(ná)nak. Az apa, Udo örökös szlogenje, melyet a Trabant csomagtartójára fest: "Nápolyt látni és meghalni!" No persze odáig még hosszú az út, ami Trabival meg különösen végzetes...
