Overview

This double set brings together Argo and its sequel Argo 2, the cult Hungarian crime caper and its bigger, wilder follow-up, both written and directed by Árpa Attila — and here in their director's-cut versions with a heavy load of extras.

The story follows Balog Tibi and his crew of small-time crooks who keep solving things "the clever way." The first film sends them chasing a Roman treasure buried in Hungary two thousand years earlier; the sequel picks up ten years on, when Tibi gets out and the hunt turns to a priceless data carrier. Underestimate Tibi at your peril. It's fast, profane, and proudly rough around the edges — Hungarian critics called it freer and more enjoyable than just about any other domestic film, with samurai swords, exploding buildings, and gangster mayhem in the mix.

For collectors of contemporary Hungarian genre cinema, this is the most complete Argo package released — two features on two discs, both director's cuts, with English subtitles throughout.
