Overview
Pride and Joy gathers the music videos Stevie Ray Vaughan made between 1983 and 1989 — the visual record of one of the most explosive blues guitarists who ever picked up a Stratocaster. Originally released just after his death in 1990, it was a lifeline for fans who had suddenly lost their guitar hero.
This 2007 DVD edition expands the original collection considerably. Alongside the proper videos — "Love Struck Baby," "Cold Shot," "Couldn't Stand the Weather," "Crossfire" — it adds the "Little Wing" clip, all three MTV Unplugged performances, the full video material for The Vaughan Brothers' Family Style album, and a pair of vintage TV spots.
The result is the complete made-for-TV anthology in one place, running about 70 minutes. For blues fans and guitarists, it's the definitive visual document of SRV's short, brilliant career.
Interesting Facts
- Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash on 27 August 1990, at the age of 35, at the peak of his powers.

- The collection adds the video material for Family Style, the only album SRV recorded with his older brother, guitarist Jimmie Vaughan.
- "I'm Leaving You (Commit a Crime)" appears as a live track recorded at MTV's Mardi Gras celebration in 1987.
- Vaughan's Number One Stratocaster, seen throughout, became one of the most famous guitars in blues history.
- Two vintage TV commercials — for Couldn't Stand the Weather and Soul to Soul — round out the anthology as period curiosities.
