Béla Bartók – Pioneer of Ethnomusicology and 20th-Century Modernism

Béla Viktor János Bartók (1881–1945) was a Hungarian composer, pianist, and ethnomusicologist, widely regarded as one of the most significant composers of the 20th century. Alongside Franz Liszt, he is celebrated as one of Hungary's greatest musical figures. A Revolutionary Approach to Tonality and Nationalism

Bartók's music reflects two defining trends of 20th-century composition:
