Boney M. was a Euro-Caribbean vocal group created by German record producer Frank Farian, who was the group's primary songwriter. Originally based in West Germany, the four original members of the group's official line-up were Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett from Jamaica, Maizie Williams from Montserrat and Bobby Farrell from Aruba. The group was formed in 1976 and achieved popularity during the disco era of the late 1970s. Since the 1980s, various line-ups of the band have performed with differing personnel.
A DVD featuring a live concert with Boney M. from Hamburg, Germany, 1977 as well as the group's 1981 TV film "Ein Sound geht um die Welt" (A Sound Goes Around The World) from Jamaica, May 1981, recorded to promote their fifth studio album "Boonoonoonoos"
This unique recording captures Boney M. live in Concert in Hamburg, 1977, at the end of the first leg of their debut live tour. The concert is completely live and features 'The Black beautiful Circus' backing band who supported Boney M. in their concerts in 1977, 1978 and 1979/80. The four members of Boney M. (Bobby Farrell, Liz Mitchell, Maizie Williams and Marcia Barrett) created live on stage what their producer, Frank Farian, created in the studio (using his own vocals to create the template for the Boney M. sound and then layering the vocals of Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett on top to give the sound its Boney M. identity on record. It should be noted that live, all the members of Boney M. sang.

German spoken TV-Special (with English subtitle) that was produced during the release of "Boonoonoonoos" in 1981. The documentary follows Boney M. to Jamaica, where they play an open-air charity concert for Jamaican orphans. It consists of footage of their arrival, rehearsals, photo shoots etc.
Special guests include Rita Marley, The Melody Makers and Third World.
