The Rolling Thunder Revue was a 1975–1976 concert tour by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan with numerous musicians and collaborators. The purpose of the tour was to allow Dylan, who had now become a major recording artist and concert performer, to play in smaller auditoriums in less populated cities where he could be more intimate with his audiences.

Producer's Note: Although crude bootlegs of these performances have circulated for years, we felt that the only way to capture the excitement of these remarkably powerful stage performances was by limiting our selections only to the 24 track recordings made by a professional sound truck in Worcester, Boston, Cambridge and Montreal. Because the Revue's material was relatively similar from night to night, we decided to choose what we considered were the best of these performances and assemble them roughly the way they might have occurred once Bob Dylan stepped onto the stage. We also decided not to duplicate the two previously released versions of "Romance In Durango" and "Isis" which were included on 1985's multi-disc set "Biograph".
